National Day of Racial Healing 2023

We welcome you to join us for the 7th Annual National Day of Racial Healing!

The National Day of Racial Healing is a time for contemplation and collective action on #HowWeHeal from the effects of racism. It is an opportunity to bring people together in their common humanity and inspire collective action to create a more just and equitable world. Launched in 2017, This annual observance builds on the work and learnings of Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation (TRHT) community partners, including TRHT Metro Lansing.

In celebration of our common humanity, we're hosting a celebration to highlight and invite folks into racial equity work in the community and the crucial role of healing. We encourage you to invite colleagues, family and friends to participate so that the space reflects our diversity as a region.

Racial Healing and Relationship Building focuses on ways for all of us to heal from the wounds of the past, to build mutually respectful relationships across racial and ethnic lines that honor and value each person’s humanity, and to build trusting intergenerational and diverse community relationships that better reflect our common humanity.

Main Program

Hear from partners and volunteers working toward Truth, Racial Healing and Transformation (TRHT) and learn about how the work toward racial equity is moving forward and how you can get involved.

Healing Circles

Experience a TRHT racial healing circle, which is an intentional process rooted in Indigenous traditions and developed by TRHT visionary Dr. Gail Christopher. Circles are designed to encourage each of us to tell our stories, to listen deeply to the stories of others, to find common ground, and to see our common humanity.

One Love Global Center for Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation

The One Love Global Center for Truth, Racial Healing & Transformation is a hub and learning community that celebrates Blackness, dismantles oppressive human hierarchies, and upholds beloved community characterized by love, accountability, mutual support, and creative cohesion. We center Black youth as leaders and build intergenerational power toward equitable policy and systems transformation at the intersections of educational, economic, and environmental justice. Through racial healing circles, we ground our community in Indigenous practices and storytelling to see our common humanity and explore justice that heals.
